about

Amp is an electronic/avant/experimental/alternative (sometime dubbed ‘space rock’ band formed in London by Richard F. Walker (also known as Richard Amp) in 1991, after collaborating with David Pearce (Flying Saucer Attack) on the The Secret Garden and the Distance projects. Amp recorded the audio cassette GreenSky BlueTree with Ray Dickaty (subsequently a member of Moonshake and Spiritualized, amongst others), while Walker was studying at the Royal College of Art in 1992

From the original cassette sleeve:
"This tape was recorded in various bedrooms, churches, and dodgy recording rooms over the past couple of years. The music has been written while I have been working on a story called 'Hot dog Danger Zone'. To me these are Sketches, I hope listenable ones, hence the tape, and I pray, relative to the story, although just listenable is enough.
R.F.W/Amp 92"

MC Strong:
"Occupying musical territory somewhere between shoegazing and the Bristol 'Trip Hop' sound, AMP had created a work of sweeping soundscapes, echoing ambience and waves of feedback."
